Bradley Childbirth Classes
Our classes stress the importance of healthy baby, healthy mother and healthy families. My classes teach families how to have natural births. The techniques are simple and effective. Our class principle is based on years of information about how the human body works during labor. Couples are taught how they can work with their bodies to reduce pain and make their labors more efficient. Of the over 400 couples who have taken my classes since 2000, over 86% of them have had spontaneous, unmedicated vaginal births.

Our class sizes are kept small, usually averaging 6-8 couples per class, and include a workbook, personalized attention, videos of a variety of different birth scenarios, as well as pain management techniques including massage, aromatherapy, and relaxation exercises. Review classes are offered and encouraged at NO extra charge.

Coaches face some special challenges in labor. They need special training as well as the mother and that's why our coaches learn a series of relaxation techniques and effective labor and birth positions designed to educate and motivate coaches and make them a valuable part of the birth experience.

Postpartum Doula Services
A postpartum doula's role changes from day to day, as the needs of the family change. Postpartum doulas do whatever is needed for the mother, her partner and her family,to adjust to the arrival of the new baby. As your postpartum doula, I share information about baby care with you, as well as teach siblings and partners to “mother the mother.” I will assist with breastfeeding education, and also make sure that the mother and family is fed, well hydrated and comfortable.

My postpartum support for your family can last anywhere from one or two visits to more than three months. It all depends on your needs.

My hours are flexible to you and your family's schedule. I typically work full time with you and your family from 9 to 5, or 10 to 3. I can also accommodate your family in the evenings from around 6 pm until bedtime, 9 or 10 pm.

I am not a baby nurse. My role as your postpartum doula is to help a the mother through her postpartum period and to nurture the family. Unlike a baby nurse, my focus is not solely on the baby, but on fostering independence for the entire family. I am as available to the father and older children as to the mother and the baby. Treating the family as a unit that is connected and always changing enables me to do my job which is to nurture your family.

My goal as your doula is to nurture you as parents into your new roles. As your knowledge and self-confidence grow, your need for my professional support should diminish.

Self-confidence has a tremendous impact on a person’s ability to approach any task, and parenting is no different. Through my training through DONA International, I have been taught to consider your feelings as parents and always build confidence whenever possible. We will discuss your strategies and skills as parents that will improve your ability to bond with your baby. I will help create a safe place for the mother emotionally relieving some of the pressure on you as the new mother by helping you move into your new responsibilities gradually. By mothering the mother, I will make sure that you feel nurtured and cared for, and can make referrals to appropriate clinicians or support groups as needed.

As your postpartum doula, I respect the partner’s role and input, and teach concrete skills that will help you as the partner nurture the baby and mother. For more information on my services, please contact me today.
